MHMS 2008 Commencement Exercises

We are honored to be playing for the graduates and their families at the MHMS 2008 Commencement Exercises, which will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the gym at Merrol Hyde Magnet School.

Please make note of the following:
This is a required performance for the older students; if there are any personal extenuating circumstances, you must see Mr. Clark by May 9 to discuss your concerns with him; and,
This performance involves high school symphonic band, 8th grade, and a few 7th graders who have seen Mr. Clark for permission to participate in the ceremony.

Parents:

There is not enough seating in the auditorium for our instrumental music parents to be seated UNLESS you are the parents of a graduating senior. If you take seats in the auditorium, you may be depriving family members of a graduate the seat they deserve. ALL OTHER PARENTS should plan to view the graduation by simulcast in the cafeteria OR drop your student off to play and return to pick them up. This is not a concert for the benefit of our parents, but we are the accompanying music for the graduation ceremonies. This directive comes from Mrs. Schreiner, and I will be most appreciative of our parents' compliance. ~~Mr. Clark

Instrumental Music Student Instructions

Rehearsal:

Saturday morning, May 17, 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m - graduation rehearsal.
All Instrumental Music students must be in their chairs in the gym ready to play at 9:00 a.m.
Note: The Strings Ensemble will perform at graduation, but does not need to be at the morning rehearsal.

Commencement/Graduation:

All performing students will be in full uniform for the ceremony, which should last just over an hour.
Arrive early enough to get your instrument, music and uniform squared away prior to 6:30 p.m.
6:30 p.m. - Symphonic Band students must be seated in their seat in the gym.
6:30 p.m. - Strings Ensemble plays until the ceremony begins.
7:00 p.m. - Commencement Exercises
